A Daily Bible Reading Plan - Click Here
Reading, studying, memorizing and meditating on God’s Word are some of the most important disciplines in the life of a growing Christian. Please understand – it’s not important because it gains you merit or favor with God. God is not impressed simply because you read your Bible each day. It’s important because consistent, quality quiet time develops an intimate relationship with God. Just like your best friend became your best friend because you spent lots and lots of time talking, texting and just hanging out. Likewise, your relationship with God grows closer and more intimate by spending time talking to Him (praying), reading about Him (in His Word) and thinking about Him (meditating). We hope this guide helps make it a little easier to have solid quiet times every day of the year, too. You just have to set aside the time and do it!
Here are four keys to having solid quiet times with the Lord…
PRAY...
Ask God the following questions as you start:
Lord, what is the one thing you want me to learn from your Word today? (knowledge)
Lord, what do you want me to do with it in my life? (application)
READ...
Read the passage a time or two, searching for the one thing God wants to teach
you. Search for it as if you were you were searching for a buried treasure.
Think...
Joshua 1:8 tells us to think on God’s Word “day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
APPLY...
Whatever it is that God teaches you from His Word, DO IT!!
