Doug Garland

Doug Garland has known the Lord for more than 40 years. He made a profession of faith during a revival service when he was a child. Although he doesn’t think he was truly born again at that time, his desire to know more about spiritual things began to grow. He accepted Christ a few years later and saw his life radically change as a result. Doug has been at HPBC for 35 years and has served in numerous ways, including teaching a children’s Sunday school class and the Young Marrieds’ Class, working in Awana, leading the teen Bible quiz program, serving as a leader in Men for Missions in several capacities, and serving as a deacon and as an officer of the deacons. He and his wife Cindy have four adult children, three of whom are married. Doug is Director of Assessment at Bob Jones University and is responsible for a variety of administrative functions primarily related to academics. In answer to a question about why he desires to serve as a non-staff pastor at HP, Doug says, “God has been very gracious to me and my family through Hampton Park. My burden is to assist the ministry in any way that I can so that others may come to a fuller knowledge of Christ.” He looks forward to the opportunity of interacting with the staff pastors and being able to know and serve more people in this church body. Doug’s favorite free-time activities include spending time with his family, gardening, woodworking, and amateur radio.
